Summary
Communities are encouraging walking or biking to school as the first step to change community culture and create environments that are more inviting for everyone, young and old. Walking and biking to school offers many benefits in enhancing the health of kids, improving air quality and the environment, reducing traffic, and creating safer routes for walking and biking.
The City of Pflugerville continues to work closely with the Pflugerville Independent School District to make our community pedestrian and bicyclist friendly. Joint efforts to keep school zones safe include the Safe Routes to Schools program and the efforts of the City's Safe School Zone committee. This proclamation is part of ongoing efforts to encourage everyone to consider the safety and health of children this month and throughout the year.
