Approving a three-year contract with Granicus in the annual amounts of $17,446 for year one, $17,972 for year two and $18,513 for year three to assist with management of short-term rental properties within the City of Pflugerville, and authorizing the City Manager to execute the same.
Summary
The purpose of the agenda item is to seek City Council’s approval of a three-year contract with Granicus to provide software that will assist with the collection of the Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) funds for short term rentals. Funding for the software will be through the collection of the HOT funds. The contract includes monitoring and identification of short term rentals within the community, a 24/7 problem reporting hotline, compliance, and rental activity monitoring that integrates with existing GIS software. The software will provide an opportunity for concerns to be received through the Granicus 24/7 hotline, increase Hotel Occupancy Tax via rental activity monitoring, and help follow trends in short term rentals within the community. Based on an initial review of the City, Granicus has identified approximately 237 unique short term rental units with an estimated $500,000 of additional Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) that can be collected.
This item is supported by the Economic Development pillar of the Strategic Plan.
