Summary
The proposed amendment would permit Sexually Oriented Businesses (SOBs) within the Light Industrial (LI) zoning district only when there are no General Industrial (GI) properties available as long as the subject tract is a minimum of 1,000 feet from a child care facility, church, dwelling, elder care facility, family oriented entertainment site, hospital, public building, public park, other sexually oriented business, residentially zoned land or school, and the architectural elements of a commercial district are followed.  In addition the proposed amendments include a selection of other minor amendments that update the references within Chapter 112 to utilize current land use nomenclature.
 
Prior Planning and Zoning Commission Action
On June 3, 2013 the Planning and Zoning Commission conducted a public hearing and recommended approval of the proposed ordinance with a vote of 7-0.
 
Prior City Council Action
On June 11, 2013 the City Council conducted a public hearing and with a vote of 3-0, approved the ordinance on first reading.
