Summary
The City of Pflugerville recognizes the importance of proactive engagement during the legislative interim period to influence policies that support community growth, sustainability, and municipal interests. The interim period is essential for shaping priorities, building relationships with lawmakers, and ensuring the City’s voice is represented before the next legislative session.
City Council has identified priority focus areas for this period and emphasizes collaboration with state legislators, regional partners, businesses, and residents to promote policies that strengthen the economy and guide growth. Many interim charges are expected to propose changes impacting public health, safety, welfare, and municipal services. Establishing clear priorities and positions will enable effective communication with lawmakers and strong advocacy for the City’s interests.
Focus areas include economic development, Qualified Hotel Projects, annexation, and Extraterritorial Jurisdiction (ETJ). The City will support legislation that advances strategic goals, improves quality of life, strengthens municipal authority, and responsibly increases revenues. The City will oppose legislation that conflicts with strategic objectives, erodes local control, imposes unfunded mandates, or threatens the health, safety, and welfare of residents.
