Title

Discuss and consider action to approve the Executive Director to enter into a contract with TIP Strategies in the amount of $75,000, and authorizing PCDC expenditures not to exceed $50,000 to match an additional $25,000 grant award from Texas Workforce Commission for purposes of conducting a Pflugerville Workforce Study.

Summary

In the Spring of 2023, the PCDC received a $25,000 matching grant from the Texas Workforce Commission in partnership with Workforce Solutions Capital Area (WFSCA) for the purpose of conducting a Pflugerville Workforce Study.  This is the first workforce study approved for Type A/B corporations in the state of Texas, and is the result of the PCDC encouraging TWC officials to change governing documents to allow High Demand Job Training Grants to fund workforce studies in communities.   The study will inform on Pflugerville workforce environment, training center needs, industry and workforce strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities, and will guide the PCDC workforce initiatives over the next several years.

The PCDC will be reimbursed $25,000 by the WFSCA of $75,000, making PCDC’s remaining expenditure $50,000.

Prior Action:

On August 16, 2023, the PCDC Board approved the FY24 Budget to include the $50,000 expenditure for a Workforce Study in the Community Engagement Workforce Grants budget. Subsequently, the City Council approved the PCDC FY24 budget on August 22, 2023.
