Approving the appointment of Ms. Amy Atkins as Parks and Recreation Director.
Summary
Section 4.06 of the City Charter specifies that the City Manager shall appoint the head of each administrative department, subject to the approval of the City Council. The City Manager has offered the position of Parks and Recreation Director for the City of Pflugerville to Ms. Atkins and she has accepted the position, subject to the approval of the City Council.
Over 70 individuals applied for the position of Parks and Recreation Director. Ms. Susan Word, Human Resources Director, and Mr. Trey Fletcher, Managing Director of Operations, assisted the City Manager in the selection and interview process. Following this process, Ms. Atkins was found to be by far the most qualified candidate. She has an impressive resume of parks and recreation experience and education and has proven her initiative and vision for the future in her current position as Interim Director.
