Approving an ordinance on second reading with the caption reading: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PFLUGERVILLE, TEXAS, AMENDING THE CITY OF PFLUGERVILLE, TEXAS CODE OF ORDINANCES, CHAPTER 72 REGARDING SPEED LIMITS ON CITY STREETS (GRAND AVENUE PKWY, PFENNIG LN, AND PICADILLY DR), SUBJECT TO THE MISDEMEANOR OF SPEEDING AND THE IMPOSITION OF PENALTIES OF UP TO $200, ESTABLISH PRIMA FACIE MAXIMUM SPEEDS, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
Summary
The City is amending Chapter 72 of our Code of Ordinances specifically relating to speed limits on city streets by amending speed limits on existing streets with posted speed limits other than the prima facie speed of 30 mph. This action updates the ordinance to ensure compliance with state law in order to enforce speed limits on city streets.
The following streets are included in the changes to the ordinance:
• Grand Avenue Pkwy.
• Pfennig Ln.
• Picadilly Dr.
Each of these streets include areas within school zones that are now included in the proposed ordinance. Maps showing current speed limits and the new speed limits are attached to this item. This item has been approved by the City Attorney as to form.
Prior City Council Action
This ordinance was approved on first reading on September 22, 2015.
Chapter 72 regarding speed limits on these city streets was last amended by the City Council:
• Grand Avenue Pkwy. on February 12, 2008
• Pfennig Ln. on December 16, 2003
• Picadilly Dr. on February 12, 2008.
