Title
Discuss and consider action to approve a PCDC Community Engagement Workforce Alignment Grant, specifically for Industry Leadership Council (ILC) Strategic Alignment funding not to exceed $5,000.00.
Summary: Annually the PCDC Board and Council approve workforce development funds in the PCDC budget as allowed by Type B corporations. This funding will provide specialized technology for the P-TECH Computer Information Technology (CIT) Academy. Students earn dual college credit toward an associate degree while completing industry-recognized cybersecurity training. Advanced cybersecurity coursework requires high-performance computers capable of running specialized software, penetration-testing tools, and complex simulations that standard district devices cannot adequately support. These investments will provide students with the technology and skills needed to pursue high-demand cybersecurity careers.
This project serves PfISD P-TECH Cybersecurity students, CTE educators, and regional technology employers. It is important because it provides equitable access to college-level cybersecurity training and industry-standard technology. High-performance workstations ensure students-especially those from underrepresented or socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds-can complete advanced coursework, earn dual college credits, acquire industry credentials, and enter high-demand local cybersecurity careers.
