Approving an agreement with Paradigm Traffic Systems in the amount of $122,750 for purchase and implementation associated with the City Advanced Traffic Management System, and authorizing the City Manager to execute the same.
Summary
This item is supported by the safety and infrastructure pillars of the Strategic Plan. Having an Advanced Traffic Management System in place will allow for operational communications to all traffic signal controllers allowing staff to monitor, control, and alter signalized intersections remotely. With this platform being proposed tonight, staff would be able to evaluate signal performance, customize and schedule signal timing, integrate closed circuit cameras, and increase efficiency in traffic flow throughout the City. As the City grows and traffic increases, it is important to have the resources in place so that the City can meet the demand of operational effectiveness.
Over the past several years the City has assumed the operation and maintenance of TxDOT traffic signals as well as secured agreements to ensure proper maintenance is being performed. As City operations expand, it is key that the City begins putting in place operations to become self sufficient in all aspects of operations. Having the Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS) in place will be paramount in establishing a pathway to achieve this goal.
