Approving an agreement for the Harlem Legends Basketball Camp to be held at the Pflugerville Recreation Center and authorizing the City Manager to execute same.

 

Summary

The City of Pflugerville Parks and Recreation Department (PARD) and Mr. Michael Douglas of the Michael Douglas Youth Foundation (MDYF) and Harlem Legends Basketball Entertainment have reached a tentative agreement regarding the City hosting a youth summer basketball camp in conjunction with Mr. Douglas.  Camp will run at the City of Pflugerville Recreation Center from July 23-27, 9am-1pm,  at a registation cost of$125/camper.  Terms of the agreement include: an 80/20 split of registration fees, with no minimum fee paid to Mr. Douglas, regardless of the amount of registrants; cap enrollment at 75 campers due to limited gym space; City will handle all registrations and transactions; City will provide snacks and beverages to campers during the week; MDYF will be responsible for all travel/lodging/meal expenses associated with this event during its entirety; MDYF will be responsible for any outside sponsorships and City has first right of refusal on any and all sponsors; and,  MDYF will provide all basketballs, t-shirts, prizes/giveaways, and certificates.

This agreement has been reviewed and approved by the City Attorney.

There is no deadline for action.

 

Fiscal Impact

Net Income expected between $500 and $1875 to the General Fund.

 

Staff Recommendation

City Staff recommends entering into said agreement with the Michael Douglas Youth Foundation and the Harlem Legends Basketball Camp.  The Parks and Recreation Commission has reviewed and recommends approval.
