Approving a resolution establishing a 2015 bond committee and appointing its members.
Summary
The attached resolution would establish a bond committee to provide input to the City Council on items that could be included in a bond election in the future. At their meeting on January 27, 2015, the Council set the bond committee membership to include three members to be designated by the Mayor and two members to be designated by each Councilmember. The Mayor and Councilmembers have named their members as provided in the attached resolution.
The City Manager has plans to hold six meetings of the proposed bond committee with the following schedule:
March 25, 2015: Introductory meeting with background presentation by City staff
April 8, 2015: Discussion regarding Roads and Drainage
April 15, 2015: Discussion regarding City Facilities/Buildings
April 29, 2015: Discussion regarding Parks Projects
May 13, 2015 Summary discussion to include bond funding discussion
May 27, 2015: Bond Committee recommendation action
June 9, 2015: Presentation of Bond Committee recommendation at City Council meeting
All meetings of the proposed bond committee will be open to the public and agendas will be posted at least 72 hours in advance of each meeting. An agenda has been posted for the March 25, 2015 meeting.
The deadline to call a bond election for November 3, 2015 is August 24, 2015. Regular meeting dates for the City Council in August are August 11, 2015 and August 25, 2015. The City's General Election will be held on November 3, 2015 for City Council Place 3 and Place 5. The first day to file for a place on the ballot will be July 25, 2015 and the last day to file will be August 24, 2015.
Deadline for City Council Action
Action on the item is expected to take place on March 24, 2015. There is no deadline for action.
