Title

Resolution ordering a Special Runoff Election on September 6, 2016 to fill the City Councilmember Place 2 vacancy.

Summary

A special meeting is planned for August 15, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. for this agenda item.  A special meeting on August 16, 2016 will only be held if the August 15, 2016 meeting is cancelled.

The City of Pflugerville held a Special Election on August 6, 2016 for Councilmember Place 2 for an unexpired term ending in November 2017.  The unofficial results show that none of the candidates: Victor To, Victor Johnson, Jeff Marsh or Jim McDonald received greater than 50% of the total votes.  A runoff election between Jeff Marsh and Jim McDonald will be necessary.  Official results of the election will be provided to the City Council earlier in this meeting to provide for the official canvass of the votes for the August 6, 2016 Special Election.

The attached resolution orders the City of Pflugerville’s Special Runoff Election on September 6, 2016.  The supplemental agenda which was posted in Spanish is also attached.

Travis County will provide election services for this special runoff election for all City of Pflugerville registered voters residing in both Travis and Williamson counties.  Early voting and Election Day voting will take place in the Council Chambers, 100 East Main Street, Suite 500.  Early voting will take place August 22, 2016 to September 2, 2016 on weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with extended early voting provided on Monday, August 22, 2016 and Friday, September 2, 2016 from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and on Saturday, August 27, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  Election Day voting will take place on September 6, 2016 from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
