Title

Discuss and consider action to award a construction contract for the Helios and Sun Light Near Way Project to Cash Construction Company, Inc., the lowest responsible bidder of six (6) bids received on September 15, 2016, in the amount of $2,941,541.42 and authorizing the City Manager to execute same.

 

Summary

This project will extend the Helios Way roadway west from its intersection with Sun Light Near Way and then turn to the north to provide an additional access point to Pecan Street, providing alternative access to the 130 Commerce Park as well as Northeast Travis County Park.  The extension of Helios Way is expected to be under construction in the spring of 2016.

 

Halff Associates, the project’s design engineer, completed design work for this project in August.

 

The attached bid tabulation includes the bid values in which the low bidder was $2,941,541.42. The estimated cost of this project was $3,615,115.04.

 

Mean average for the bids was $3,182,995.07.

 

Status

The project was advertised for bids on August 31, 2016.  Six (6) bids were received and opened on September 15, 2016.

 

Fiscal Impact

Funding for this project was included in the 2015 certificates of obligation.

Staff Recommendation

Staff recommends awarding the construction contract for the Helios and Sun Light Near Way project to the lowest responsible bidder, Cash Construction Company, Inc., in the amount of $2,941,541.42.
