Authorizing the City Manager to execute Change Order #1 in the amount of $94,916.50 with Central Road and Utility LTD for repairs to pavement for accessing the lift station associated with the Carmel Phase 1 Wastewater Interceptor project.
Summary
The proposed change order includes the transfer of the paving of an access drive to the Carmel/ Sorento Lift Station from an existing contract associated with the Carmel/ Sorento Force Main Project to the Carmel Phase 1 Wastewater Interceptor project contract. In addition, the change order includes the installation of concrete retard to provide trench dams in various locations along the wastewater interceptor to divert ground water from the wastewater trench to the creek. The addition of these items will add 17 days to the final completion date of the contract.
An access drive was included in the bid for the Carmel/ Sorento Force Main project to provide access from Weiss Lane to the Carmel/ Sorento Lift Station. Flex base material was installed with the project during the construction phase to allow construction equipment to access the construction site. The Carmel/Sorento Lift Station and Force Main projects are nearing completion but the Carmel Phase 1 Wastewater Interceptor contractor continues to use the base drive for construction access. To minimize damage to the access drive while the Carmel Phase 1 Wastewater Interceptor project is under construction, the paving of the access drive is proposed to be removed from the scope of the Carmel/ Sorento Force Main Project and added to the scope of the Carmel Phase 1 Wastewater Interceptor construction contract. The Carmel Phase 1 Wastewater Interceptor contractor will pave the access drive to the lift station at the end of the project after construction traffic has ceased use of the drive.
