Title

Discuss annexation (Requested by Mayor Pro Tem Omar Peña) and discuss and consider action to approve a resolution adopting the 3-Year Annexation Plan.

Summary

On May 23, 2017, Mayor Pro Tem Omar Peña requested a future agenda item to discuss annexation.  The item to discuss annexation has been combined with the annual consideration of the 3-Year Annexation Plan due to similar content.

As required by the City Charter, the Planning and Zoning Commission annually reviews and submits an annual annexation plan to the City Council and City Manager at least 120 days before the beginning of the budget year that starts in October.  On May 9, 2017, the City Council held a joint worksession with the Planning and Zoning Commission to allow for discussion and present annual recommendations regarding the annexation plan. The purpose of this item is to establish the City of Pflugerville’s 3-year annexation plan and policy for 2018-2020. The current annexation plan states that the City has no plans to pursue annexation of any property, except for those areas that are exempt from the annexation plan requirements as established by the Texas Local Government Code, Chapter 43.  The City reserves the right to amend the 3-year plan at any time.
