Title

Proclamation declaring May 21 to May 27, 2017 as National Public Works Week in the City of Pflugerville.

Summary
National Public Works Week is a celebration of the tens of thousands of men and women in North America who provide and maintain the infrastructure and services collectively known as public works.  National Public Works Week is observed each year in May to raise the public's awareness of public works issues and to increase confidence in public works employees who are dedicated to improving the quality of life for present and future generations.

This year’s theme "Public Works Connects Us" celebrates the vital role public works plays in connecting us all together. As the cornerstone of civilization, public works provides, maintains, and improves the structures and services that assure a higher quality of life for our communities. It is streets, roads, and bridges that keep us linked together and clean water and wastewater services that keep us healthy and allow our communities to grow and prosper.

In recognition of National Public Works Week, the City of Pflugerville will host a Public Works Open House on Friday, May 12, 2017 at the City of Pflugerville Central Wastewater Treatment Plant, 15500 Sun Light Near Way #B, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.  Citizens will have an opportunity to tour the facilities and learn more about the responsibilities of the Public Works Department.
