Summary
This item has been included on the agenda to allow for discussion and potential action on the subject. A presentation to the City Council was included on the worksession held earlier in the evening.
Status
The exclusive franchise agreement for residential solid waste/recycling collection terminates in January 2018. The city has six non-exclusive commercial franchise agreements that terminate at the end of 2017.
Deadline for City Council Action
Staff is requesting direction from Council on the process to be followed for contracting for solid waste/recycling.

Fiscal Impact
To be determined. At this time, commercial franchise solid waste providers in the city of Pflugerville pay a 6% franchise fee based upon their revenues in the city. The residential franchise fee is around 4% at this time and will be calculated through the process of provider selection and the subsequent cost to the city, and the end charge to the residential customer.
