Discuss and consider action to award a construction contract for the Field Operations and Maintenance Facility project to G. Hyatt Construction, Inc., the lowest responsible bidder of six (6) bids received on May 11, 2017, in the amount of $2,816,520.00 and authorizing the City Manager to execute same.
Summary
This project includes construction of a new 8,180 sq. ft. building to be occupied by the City’s field operations and maintenance staff and includes associated sitework. The estimated cost of this project was $3,000,000. This building will be located at the Public Works facility at 15500 Sun Light Near Way.
Architecture Plus, the project’s design architect/consultant, completed design work for this project in April 2017.
Nine alternates were bid with the project. Alternate No. 1 and Alternate No. 2 included the east and west wings of the building, respectively. Alternate No. 3 included polished concrete floors in select areas. Alternate No. 4 included additional lockers and bases in the locker rooms. Alternate No. 5 included additional parking lot lighting. Alternate No. 6 and Alternate No. 7 included installation of landscaping and site utility improvements. Alternate No. 8 and Alternate No. 9 included additional paving and pavement markings.
The attached bid tabulation show the bids in which G. Hyatt Construction, Inc. was the low bidder for building and site improvements including the base bid and alternates No. 1, No. 3, No.5, and No. 8 at a total of $2,816,520.00. G. Hyatt Construction, Inc. bid the base bid at $2,720,000.00 and alternates No. 1, No. 3, No.5, and No. 8 at $96,000, -$14,297 (deduct), $4,000, and $10,817, respectively.
Mean average for the base bids was $2,902,083.33.
Status
The project was advertised for bids on April 26, 2017. Six (6) bids were received and opened on May 11, 2017.
Fiscal Impact
Funding for this project will be allocated from General Fund 2016 certificates of obligation and Utility fund balance.
