Summary
This project includes construction of two new traffic signals and related intersection improvements at Grand Avenue Parkway and Black Locust and Heatherwilde Blvd. and Cheyenne Valley Dr.
Kimley-Horn, the project’s design consultant, completed design work for this project in May 2017.
Three bid items were included as add Alternate No. 1. These were battery backups for both signals and internally lighted street name (ILSN) signs at both intersections.
The attached bid tabulation shows the bids in which Austin Traffic Signals Construction, Company Inc. is the low bidder for the base bid ($425,466.25) and Add Alternate No. 1 ($26,640.00) at a total of $452,106.25. The estimated cost of this project was $612,985.
Status
The project was advertised for bids on May 17, 2017. Two (2) bids were received and opened on June 2, 2017.
Fiscal Impact
Funding for the construction of these traffic signals was included in the 2016 Certificates of Obligation issue.
Staff Recommendation
Staff recommends awarding the construction contract for the Traffic Signals and Intersection Improvements at Grand Avenue Parkway and Black Locust and Heatherwilde Blvd. and Cheyenne Valley Dr. project to the lowest responsible bidder, Austin Traffic Signal Construction Company, Inc., in the amount of $452,106.25 which includes the base bid and Add Alternate No. 1 items.
