Summary
Since 1985, the National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA) has celebrated July as America’s official Park and Recreation Month. NRPA encourages agencies to recognize the importance of park and recreation facilities and express support for the designation of the month of July as National Park and Recreation Month. NRPA is asking agencies to have their local government officially designate July 2017 as Parks and Recreation Month.
Parks and recreation connect people both young and old to the opportunities, places and inspiration that keep us going in mind and in body. Parks and recreation provide opportunities for our community to be active, healthy and thriving, now and in the future. The community is invited to create a healthy habit by getting out to a park, trail, playground, swimming pool, natural area or other public space during the month of July in celebration of National Park and Recreation month.
The Parks and Recreation Department has several activities planned to celebrate Parks & Recreation Month.
July 1 "Zumba in the Park" at Pfluger Park 6:30p-7p.
July 1 Pforty Mile Trail Challenge begins (month long).
July 7 Pfree Pfirst Pfriday at the Recreation Center 6p-9p.
July 7 Pfloating Movie Night with Captain America - Civil War at Mentzer Pool 8:45p.
July 14 Music in the Park Movie Night with Sing at Pfluger Park 7:30p-10p.
July 21 Pfloating Movie Night with Finding Dory at Mentzer Pool 8:45p.
July 28 Music in the Park with Acustyka at Pfluger Park 7:30p-9:30p.
July 29 Pfree Splash Day at Windermere Pool 12:00p-7:00p.
