Title
Presentation recognizing Hurricane Harvey-related relief and recovery efforts by city of Pflugerville employees and volunteers.
Summary
The Police Department in conjunction with Mayor Victor Gonzales and the Law Enforcement Association of Pflugerville (LEAP) initiated a collection drive at the Pflugerville Justice Center last weekend to collect items for Hurricane Harvey relief, which were delivered by Mayor Gonzales to the Austin Disaster Relief Network headquarters on Wednesday. Sgt. Oscar Lopez, Sgt. Jared Bruno and COP volunteer Michelle Simik were instrumental in organizing the donations.
Other efforts included the opening of the Emergency Operations Center at the Pflugerville Justice Center Aug. 26-28 to monitor conditions and respond accordingly. Representatives from the City Management, City Council, Police Department, Animal Welfare Services, Public Works and Parks all participated.
Fourteen officers with the Pflugerville Police Department volunteered to go to Houston to aide Houston Police Department (HPD) with their patrols last weekend. These officers worked day and night shifts to help provide essential services to the community and provide relief for HPD officers. Our department worked as a team to ensure that these officers could go to Houston while maintaining appropriate staff levels in Pflugerville.
