Summary
The City of Pflugerville City Charter requires that a public hearing be held on the proposed fiscal year budget before it is adopted. The attached notice regarding the public hearing was published on the City website (www.pflugervilletx.gov) from September 13, 2017 to September 26, 2017 and in the Pflugerville Pflag on September 13, 2017. Exhibit A of the budget ordinance under consideration is the proposed budget for fiscal year 2018. This budget draft includes the changes presented to Council at the September 12, 2017 City Council meeting resulting in general fund net revenue of $10,566 for fiscal year 2018. These changes from the proposed budget dated August 25, 2017, include additional funding for Police recruiting ($50,000) and a Recreation Program Coordinator position ($25,130, net of Pfun Camp salary reductions). No changes were proposed for general fund revenue or the utility fund. Copies of the proposed budget (Exhibit A of the ordinance) are available for public inspection at City Hall, the Pflugerville Community Library, and on the City website at http://www.pflugervilletx.gov/home/showdocument?id=3019.
All required notices have been published. The required public hearing must be conducted prior to the adoption of the budget. The City Attorney's Office has reviewed this ordinance and approves as to form.
Deadline for City Council Action
The fiscal year 2018 Budget must be approved prior to the approval of the property tax rate which has been advertised for Council approval on September 26, 2017.
