Title
Approving a resolution with the caption reading: RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF PFLUGERVILLE APPROVING HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN.

Summary
Staff is requesting and recommending approval of the Travis County Hazard Mitigation Plan Update which includes mitigation actions for Travis County and participating municipalities, including Pflugerville. The plan is an update to the 2011 plan, which included Pflugerville for the first time. The update was prepared by a consultant acquired by Travis County, H2O Partners, Inc., with staff and public input.

The goal of the Hazard Mitigation Plan is to minimize or eliminate the long-term risk to human life and property from known hazards by identifying and implementing cost-effective mitigation actions. Mitigation is defined by the Federal Emergency Management Agency as sustained actions taken to reduce or eliminate long-term risks to people and property from hazards and their effects. Mitigation strategies were prepared to address eleven types of hazards that pose a significant risk to our area, including floods, tornadoes, winter storms, drought, wildfires, and dam failure among others.

Items completed by the City of Pflugerville from the 2011 Hazard Mitigation Plan include:
- eliminated the low water crossing on E. Pflugerville Parkway between FM 685 and SH 130
- completed and received approval of the Pflugerville Dam Emergency Action Plan (EAP), and implemented recommendations from TCEQ inspections.

Other items that are ongoing or incomplete but important to accomplish in the future were included in the update as proposed actions. Other items were dropped from the previous plan. The listing of both the previous actions from the 2011 plan and the Mitigation Action proposed in the update are attached to this agenda item.
