Summary
The City’s design consultant has evaluated the existing wastewater treatment plant and determined that interim improvements are necessary to keep the rating at the plant in compliance with Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) permit requirements and alleviate operational concerns until the plant expansion project is complete. The equipment is being prepurchased in advance of awarding a construction contract for the interim improvements for the wastewater treatment plant due to the long lead times expected for the equipment.
City solicited sealed bids for the purchase of a Horizontal Split Multi-Stage Centrifugal Blower for the Wastewater Treatment Plant. Advertisements were placed in the Pflugerville Pflag for two consecutive weeks starting August 16, 2017; a notice of the bid was on the City's website for the duration of the bidding process; and Texas Bid System was used to engage other interested bidders. The City received two bids for this equipment; and Gardner Denver Nash, LLC was the lowest bidder and met the specifications for the equipment.
Fiscal Impact
Funding for the central wastewater plant expansion is included in the 2018 certificate of obligation issuance.
