Summary
After 42 years of service, Municipal Judge J.B. Marshall has announced his resignation to be effective February 28, 2018. Please find the attached letter of resignation.
This item has been included on the agenda to allow for discussion. The City Council is expected to retire to executive session on the item for discussion of personnel matters pursuant to Chapter 551.074 of the Texas Government Code. No action will be taken.
Section 4.02(b) of the City Charter provides that: The city council shall appoint a municipal judge, who shall be an attorney licensed to practice law in Texas and a resident of the City, and shall fix the compensation for that office. The city council, in its discretion, may appoint additional associate municipal judges, who shall not be required to be attorneys. All municipal judges shall serve at the will of the council and shall receive compensation fixed by the city council.
