Discuss and consider action to award a construction contract for the Heatherwilde/Windermere Subdivision Streets Project to Aaron Concrete Contractors, LP, the lowest responsible bidder of seven (7) bids received on January 23, 2018, in the amount of $2,835,225.25 and authorizing the City Manager to execute same.
Summary
This project will reconstruct twelve (12) subdivision streets in the Heatherwilde/Windermere subdivisions. The streets include: Cactus Blossom Dr., Columbine St., Ardisia Dr., Simsbrook Dr., Dashwood Creek Dr., Blackthorn Dr., Thackeray Ln., Gravesend Rd., Isle of Man St., Gower St., Isle of Man Ct. and Langland Rd.
The scope of work for this project includes:
· approximately 15,200 linear feet of roadway reconstruction;
· approximately 8,068 linear feet of curb and gutter reconstruction;
· approximately 7,600 square yards of sidewalk reconstruction;
· 323 driveway approaches (in the original base bid); and
· 83 additional driveway approaches (Add Alternate No.1) to reconstruct all driveways on the designated project streets.
[This alternate adds an additional 3 months to the contract].
Hallf Associates, Inc., the project’s design consultant, completed design work for this project in December 2017.
The attached bid tabulation shows the bids in which Aaron Concrete Contractors, LP, as the lowest responsible bidder with a base bid of $2,655,630.25 and an Add Alternate bid of $179,595.00, for a total bid of $2,835,225.25. The engineer’s estimated cost of this project was $4,030,828.89.
Status
The project was advertised for bids on December 20, 2017. Seven (7) bids were received and opened on January 23, 2018.
Fiscal Impact
Funding for this project was approved in the 2014 General Obligation bond election. The bonds to provide funding this project were issued in December of 2017.
