Presentation honoring Jennifer Coffey as Texas Librarian of the Year.
Summary
The Texas Library Association awards the Texas Librarian of the Year honor to a member who has shown extraordinary leadership or service in the library community within the past twelve-eighteen months. This award considers all librarians in the state of Texas whether they serve communities, school districts, universities, etc. at any population service level. The Friends of the Pflugerville Public Library nominated Jennifer Coffey, our Pflugerville Public Library director, for this honor. Information about Jennifer's contributions to the Pflugerville community through her dedication to public service through the Library was compiled for the nomination. I am so pleased to announce that Jennifer was chosen for this recognition.
Jennifer has worked at the City of Pflugerville for eleven years and has been the Library Director since 2015. During that time, she has established the Pflugerville Public Library as a leader in library innovation with the creation of the Pfab Lab; the offering of wi-fi hotspots to our patrons through the use of grant funds; using donation funds to purchase our book bike traveling library to enhance our outreach; and, partnering with the Pflugerville Animal Welfare Services to enhance their exposure to the community. Her development and support of the local history digital archive preserves and shares the history of Pflugerville, and was the basis of the ongoing relationship between the library and the Heritage House Museum. Jennifer has created a staff and atmosphere at the facility that welcomes everyone to our library and develops programming for all ages.
