Discussion regarding the Athletic Field Use Policy development process.
Summary
Staff has been working towards the development of an Athletic Field Use Policy that once approved by City Council will establish a hierarchy of users, an appropriate space allocation methodology, and cost recovery requirements.
The purpose of this agenda item is to discuss work completed to date and parameters that have been established. Direction from the City Council is necessary so that Staff may continue on its present course or make adjustments based on input.
The Athletic Field Use Policy will apply to sport programs offered by the Pflugerville Parks and Recreation Department and sports programs operated by partnering organizations that use property under the control of the City, whether owned or leased, and/or receives any form of financial or in-kind support from the City.
Status
Staff previously discussed several components of this process, including a proposed hierarchy of users and space allocation methodology in 2014 and in 2015. Staff has recently been in contact with several youth sports leagues in order to begin discussions with them and also get roster information.
