Discuss professional services opportunities for enhanced transportation funding opportunities, strategies and resources utilizing local and non-local funding sources.
Summary
Resources to accomplish transportation projects are limited, but can be leveraged with state and federal funding as may be competitively available through the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO.) CAMPO is responsible for the planning, programming and distribution of the state and federal transportation dollars to local jurisidictions in their six county region. Staff is engaged in the CAMPO Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) and Mayor Pro Tem Omar Peña represents the City on the CAMPO Transportation Policy Board. However, given staff constraints and otherwise committed resources, it has been suggested that Pflugerville may benefit by retaining a consultant to assist staff with the identification of projects, local matching resources, and candidate project submittals to be more competitive in the region in effort to maximize the local resources available for transportation projects of any mode.
