Title

Discuss and consider action to award a construction contract for the Railroad Avenue Pavement Rehabilitation Project to the lowest responsible bidder from bids received and opened on June 7, 2018 and authorizing the City Manager to execute same.

 

Summary

This project includes in-place pavement recycling with cement stabilization, asphalt removal and replacement, sidewalk and ramp reconstruction and maintenance, driveway reconstruction, signing, striping and other related activities.

 

Construction is being expedited to minimize the impact on school traffic prior to school opening for the 2018-19 school year.  Pending award, construction is anticipated to begin the week of July 9th to meet the project schedule.

Halff Associates, the project’s design consultant, completed design work for this project in May 2018.

 

A bid tabulation with the bids will be distributed to the Council at the meeting on June 12, 2018. The estimated cost of this project was $762,654.00.

 

Status

The project was advertised for bids on May 23, 2018.  Bids will be received and opened on June 7, 2018.

 

Fiscal Impact

This project is part of the City’s Annual Street Maintenance Program approved in the 2017-18 Budget in the General Fund Street Department Overlay Program (contracted) line item. The funds available for this project are $805,174.

Staff Recommendation

Staff recommends awarding the construction contract for the Railroad Avenue Pavement Rehabilitation Project to the lowest responsible bidder.
