Title
Proclamation designating July 2018 as Parks and Recreation Month in the City of Pflugerville.
Summary
Since 1985, the National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA) has celebrated July as America’s official Park and Recreation Month. NRPA encourages agencies to recognize the importance of park and recreation facilities and express support for the designation of the month of July as National Park and Recreation Month. NRPA is asking agencies to have their local government officially designate July 2018 as Parks and Recreation Month.
Parks and recreation connect people both young and old to the opportunities, places and inspiration that keep us going in mind and in body. Parks and recreation provide opportunities for our community to be active, healthy and thriving, now and in the future. The community is invited to create a healthy habit by getting out to a park, trail, playground, swimming pool, natural area or other public space during the month of July in celebration of National Park and Recreation month.
This year the theme of Parks and Recreation Month is "A Lifetime of Discovery," so the Parks and Recreation Department has planned activities to celebrate the impact of parks and recreation for all ages.
