Approving a resolution with the caption reading: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF PFLUGERVILLE, TEXAS, SUPPORTING BASTROP COUNTY’S APPLICATION FOR FLOOD PROTECTION PLANNING GRANT ASSISTANCE FILED WITH THE TEXAS WATER DEVELOPMENT BOARD.
Summary
This resolution provides support for a grant application from Bastrop County to the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) for a Flood Protection Planning Study grant. This grant will provide funding assistance from the TWDB for a floodplain study of Wilbarger Creek which also runs through Pflugerville. In supporting Bastrop County's grant application, the City has a better chance of benefiting from the grant funding rather than being the grant applicant as the TWDB evaluates the applications based on criteria including previously declared disaster areas, such as Bastrop County, and projects that involve basin wide studies with multi-juristdictional support.
The TWDB has allocated $1,800,000 for assistance for flood protection grants of which up to 50% of the total cost of a project may be awarded to an applicant.
The resolution was approved by the City Attorney's office.
Status
Grant applications are due July 11, 2018 and this resolution of support will be attached to the application. If Bastrop County receives the grant, the City and Bastrop County will enter into an interlocal agreement for the portion of the study that is in the City of Pflugerville.
Fiscal Impact
Potential savings of funds allocated for the initial tasks of a Drainage Master Plan which is a proposed fiscal 2019 project.
