Authorizing the City Manager to execute a contract with Polydyne Inc. for the purchase of Clarifloc C-6232 Polymer in the amount of $2,829.00/tote for wastewater treatment.

 

Summary

The City of Pflugerville uses a variety of chemicals in water and wastewater operations.  City staff solicited sealed bids for the purchase of thirteen chemicals for a term of one year, with the option for two annual renewals.  Advertisements were placed in the Pflugerville Pflag for two consecutive weeks; notice of the bid was on the City's website for the duration of the bidding process; and Texas Bid System was used to engage additional vendor interest.   Nine vendors provided pricing on one or more chemicals.  Two chemicals received no bids and will be re-bid.

 

Polydyne, Inc. was selected as the lowest responsible bidder the following chemical at the price provided:

Clarifloc C-6232 Polymer                      wastewater treatment                     $ 2,829.00/tote

The City has had a successful relationship with Polydyne Inc. for several years. 

 

Deadline for City Council Action

Action is requested on October 9, 2018.  The bidder was notified that this item would be considered at this meeting.

 

Fiscal Impact

The budget for wastewater treatment chemicals is included in the department budget in the chemical line item.  The anticipated annual expenditure of $169,740 for this chemical is included in that budget item.

 

Staff Recommendation

Authorize the City Manager to execute a one year contract, with the possibility of two annual renewals, to Polydyne Inc. for purchase of the chemical as stated above.
