Authorizing the City Manager to execute a contract with Lonestar Maintenance and Service for the purchase of chlorine for the water wells in the amount of $110.00/cylinder.

 

Summary

The City of Pflugerville uses a variety of chemicals in water and wastewater operations.  City staff solicited sealed bids for the purchase of thirteen chemicals for a term of one year, with the option for two annual renewals.  Advertisements were placed in the Pflugerville Pflag for two consecutive weeks; notice of the bid was on the City's website for the duration of the bidding process; and Texas Bid System was used to engage additional vendor interest.   Nine vendors provided pricing on one or more chemicals.  Two chemicals received no bids and will be re-bid.

 

Lonestar Maintenance and Serivce was selected as the lowest responsible bidder the following chemical at the price provided:

Chlorine                     water wells                      $ 110.00/cylinder

The City has had a successful relationship with Lonestar Maintenance and Service for several years. 

 

Deadline for City Council Action

Action is requested on October 9, 2018.  The bidders were notified that this item would be considered at this meeting.

 

Fiscal Impact

The budget for water wells chemicals is included in the Water Distribution department budget in the chemical line item.  The anticipated annual expenditure of $6,600 for this chemical is included in that budget item.

 

Staff Recommendation

Authorize the City Manager to execute a one year contract, with the possibility of two annual renewals, to Lonestar Maintenance and Service for the purchase of the chemical as stated above.
