Title
Approving a resolution authorizing an Interlocal Agreement with Bastrop County, Texas for the purpose developing a basin-wide flood protection study for Wilbarger Creek.

Summary
Bastrop County successfully sought flood protection planning grant assistance and was awarded the grant, which will provide 50% funding assistance from the TWDB for a floodplain study of the Wilbarger Creek watershed which also runs through Pflugerville and the Pflugerville ETJ. Travis County is also participating in the grant.

Bastrop County has been awarded a grant from the Texas Water Development Board that will pay one-half of the local cost of the Project, or 50% of the total cost. The Project is projected to cost $651,622 with estimated maximum contribution amounts as follows:

The Request for Qualifications has been issued and Statements of Qualification were due on February 12, 2018. Award is scheduled for March 2019.

According to the RFQ, the goals of the participating communities are to: (1) accurately identify flood-prone areas, (2) develop and evaluate flood protection alternative solutions, and (3) provide a recommendation for project implementation. The flood protection planning study will be performed according to criteria established by the Texas Water Development Board.

Prior City Council Action
On June 26, 2018 City Council passed Resolution 523 in support of Bastrop County’s application for flood protection planning grant assistance filed with the Texas Water Development Board.
