Summary
This resolution authorizes the City Manager to apply for and accept, if awarded, a Justice Assistance - Byrne Grant Program award for $100,157.44 from the Office of the Governor for the purchase of equipment and training to support existing programs and enhance the skills, knowledge, and abilities of employees. There is no funding match required for this grant from the City. Approval is also requested to authorize the City Manager to sign all necessary documents upon final approval of the City Attorney. The Pflugerville Police Department current targeting equipment in the firing range is antiquated and in need of replacement to ensure officer weapon use proficiency. Deadline for filing the application with the Office of the Governor is February 28, 2019. In the fourth quarter of 2019 the City will be notified by the Office of the Governor of the award approval decision. To access the grant funding, City Council must authorize the City Manager to apply for and accept the grant award if received.
