Summary
City staff finds it appropriate to defray its cost of collection by contracting for the collection of delinquent court fines and fees. This item provides a contract with Linebarger Goggan Blair and Sampson LLP to provide the collection services. All outstanding warrants have been purged for years prior to 2012.
On a previous item, a resolution has been provided for consideration to allow for the addition of 30% on each debt and account receivable, including fines and fees and on each amount in cases which the accused has failed to appear, when each is more than 60 days past due and has been referred for collection. It is required that the resolution be approved prior to the approval of the contract for municipal court fines and fees collection services with Linebarger Goggan Blair & Sampson, LLP. If the resolution is not approved, no action is needed on the contract.
