Title

Proclamation declaring May 19-25, 2019 as National Public Works Week in the City of Pflugerville.

Summary
National Public Works Week is a celebration of the tens of thousands of men and women in North America who provide and maintain the infrastructure and services collectively known as public works.  National Public Works Week is observed each year in May to raise the public's awareness of public works issues and to increase confidence in public works employees who are dedicated to improving the quality of life for present and future generations.

This year’s theme “It Starts Here” represents the many facets of modern civilization that grow out of the efforts put forth by the public works professionals . From providing clean water to disposing of solid waste, to building roads and bridges or planning for and implementing solutions to everyday concerns, public works provides, maintains, and improves the structures and services that assure a higher quality of life for our communities.

In recognition of National Public Works Week, the City of Pflugerville will host a Public Works Open House on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at the City of Pflugerville Central Wastewater Treatment Plant, 15500 Sun Light Near Way #B, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.  Citizens will have an opportunity to tour the facilities and learn more about the responsibilities of the Public Works Department.
