Approving the appointment of Shane Mize as Parks and Recreation Director.
Summary
The City Charter, Section 4.06, requires that the City Manager shall appoint the head of each administrative department, subject to the approval of the city council.
Mr. Mize brings nearly 15 years of experience in municipal parks and recreation to the City of Pflugerville. Having served in various positions with the cities of Ft. Worth and Missouri City, he has served as Director of Parks and Recreation for the city of Hutto since July 2018. He is a certified parks and recreation professional through the National Parks and Recreation Association (NRPA) and has been very active within the organization, and was named Young Professional of the Year by the NRPA in 2012.
Mr. Mize holds a BS from Hardin-Simmons University in Sport, Fitness and Leisure Management as well as a MS from Western Illinois University in Recreation, Parks and Tourism Administration.
Mr. Mize has agreed to start on June 3, 2019.
