Approving a supplemental agreement with Freese and Nichols, Inc. in the amount of $145,975.00 for professional engineering services associated with the Engineering Staff Augmentation.
Summary
The Engineering Department has several key positions vacant including two Assistant City Engineers, Utility Engineer and Senior Development Engineer. To keep projects moving forward, the City has requested Freese and Nichols, Inc. (FNI) to provide a proposal for staff augmentation while the City fills these vacancies. Current capital improvement workload includes 10 projects under construction, approximately 32 projects in design or under contract for studies, and 7 projects ready for design contracts. FNI is involved several current projects, and it is understood the FNI staff augmentation will not be involved in managing those projects.
The City contracted with FNI on April 15, 2019 for a period of one month (end date May 20, 2019) for an amount not to exceed $46,135 to get an understanding of level of service needed. The three areas identified for need of assistance was as follows:
1. Project Management
2. Construction Management Services
3. Managing the Standard Construction Specification Update
4. Additional Engineering Services
This supplemental agreement will extend the professional services up to an additional four (4) months, as needed, to allow for the City Engineer to strategically plan and select candidates to become fully staffed.
