Approving the award of a construction contract for the Weiss Lane Lift Station Repair Project to Prota Construction Inc. the lowest responsible bidder of four (4) bids received on June 13, 2019, in the amount of $179,427.00 and authorizing the City Manager to execute same.
Summary
The Weiss Lane Lift Station is a critical facility in the City's wastewater collection system and serves as a regional lift station for the majority of the City's service area on the East side of SH 130. The pumping capacity has been reduced due to recently discovered pump and piping issues. Repairs are needed to Pump Number 3's discharge elbow and to repair a leak in Pump Number 1's piping in the wet well. Work will include temporary bypass pumping and temporary power to minimize noise during construction, construction is anticipated to be complete within thirty (30) days.
The attached bid tabulation shows the bids in which Prota Construction, Inc. was the low bidder with the base bid of $179,427.00.The construction cost will require an amendment to the budget that will be included in the next request for budget amendments.
Prior City Council Action
A professional services agreement with DCS Engineering, LLC. for engineering services associated with the Weiss Lane Lift Station and Force Main Analysis and System Upgrades was approved on February 26, 2019.
