Authorizing the City Manager to approve the purchase and installation of four (4) pumps for the Weiss Lane Lift Station from Precision Pump Systems in the amount of $179,000.00 utilizing the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) cooperative purchasing contract (BuyBoard).
Summary
DCS Engineering, LLC recently completed a study for the City, which included analyzing the Weiss Lane force main network, which conveys flow from a total of 5 lift stations including the Carmel Lift Station. The study included troubleshooting the lift stations, flow testing, and identifying interim and long-term improvements. The troubleshooting field work restored the Weiss Lane Lift Station flows to the maximum capacity capable from the three existing pumps. However, these three existing pumps do not have the required capacity to serve the existing constructed connections. The recommended interim solution is to purchase and install three new pumps with a fourth new pump as a standby pump. These four new pumps will exceed the existing constructed connections so growth can continue in the service area until September 2022 at which time the long-term improvements will have to be completed. The long-term improvements will include keeping the above four pumps in operation, the Sorento Interceptor Phase II, Renewable Energy Park Force Main Extension, and Weiss/Carmel Lift Stations Operational Improvements. The Weiss Lane Lift Station will be decommissioned upon completion of the Wilbarger Wastewater Treatment Plant.

The pump replacement was identified as a need in the Utility Capital Improvement Plan with funding from utility fund balance.
