Authorizing the City Manager to execute a purchasing agreement with Vortex for the furnishing and installation of a splash pad for the Stone Hill Park project in the amount of $250,097.50.
Summary
The splash pad will be approximately 800 square feet of spray area consisting of the following spray features: geysers, jet streams, vertical interactive elements, and standard sprays. The design is a recirculating water system with UV filters, 1,000 gallon water tank, and chemical treatment system. The splash pad is switched on by an activator, this along with the recirculating system promotes the most efficient use of the City’s water resources.
The construction of the Stone Hill Park was part of the 2014 General Obligation Bond Election that was approved by the Pflugerville voters in November of 2014. The design consultants provided a development master plan that included such amenities as trails, an exercise equipment loop, playground, dog park, and splash pad and volleyball & basketball courts. Due to budgetary constraints, the splash pad and volleyball & basketball courts were removed from the project scope prior to the start of construction. Park construction was completed in 2018.
Additional cost to include the three color art work for the splash pad deck is approximately $15,000.00.
This project will utilize the Parkland Dedication fund.
Prior City Council Action
The Barr Company AIA was awarded the Stone Hill Park construction contract March 2017 for $2,026,871.98.
The City Council postponed the item on October 22, 2019.
