Approving a resolution adopting the 2019 Transportation Master Plan.
Summary
The Transportation Master Plan titled “Pflugerville Pforward” is a long range plan that identifies transportation goals, solutions, and policies for the City of Pflugerville to consider as it continues to be one of the fastest growing cities in the country.
Development of Pflugerville Pforward considered future investments that will move people and goods to and from destinations in a safe and efficient manner. Through the development of this plan, the goal was to create a collaborative process that analyzed a variety of alternative scenarios so citizens, stakeholder, and elected officials can make informed decisions about the facilities and policies needed for a fully built out community. This was achieved through the creation of a Transportation Planning and Oversight Committee (TPOC) which was made up of residents, business owners and regional partners. In addition to the TPOC, an online surveying tool, Wikimap, was utilized to gain citizen feedback on transportation issues throughout the community along with two open houses that were held to further gauge the public on transportation issues and solutions.
Kimley Horn was selected as the consultant for the City to create the Transportation Master plan in July 2018. As discussed at the worksession on November 12, 2019, the Transportation Plan incorporates an updated thoroughfare plan, prioritization of transportation projections, transportation objectives and recommended policies. Adoption of the transportation master plan will aid the city in moving forward with defined transportation objectives and policies, updates the thoroughfare map and roadway classifications and identifies projects to manage existing conditions and future demands on the transportation system.
