Summary
Sodium bisulfite is a chemical necessary to the process of treating wastewater and the City requires an estimated 40,000 gallons of this chemical per year. The City of Pflugerville staff solicited sealed bids for the purchase of sodium bisulfite. Advertisements were placed in the Pflugerville Pflag for two consecutive weeks; notice of the bid was on the City's website for the duration of the bidding process; and Texas Bid System was used to engage additional vendor interest. The City received three bids.
Napco Chemical Company was the lowest responsive bidder at $1.89 per gallon, or an estimated annual cost of $75,600. Wastewater staff has checked the vendor's references. Finance staff verified the completeness of the bid documents and insurance requirements.
