Summary
The City's Charter, Section 9.04(a), allows for amendments to the budget for supplemental appropriations when revenues are available. During the fiscal year it may be necessary to amend the approved budget to allow for expenditures and revenues that were not anticipated at the time of budget approval.
The third amendment to the FY20 budget is to add funding to the Water Treatment Plant budget to complete performance improvements identified at the Surface Water Treatment Plant (SWTP). The funds will support numerous infrastructure improvements including, but not limited to, membrane repair, Contact Time (CT) Study infrastructure improvements, interim sodium permanganate treatment infrastructure, Manville interconnect relocation, an additional drain pump, along with pump, meters, and air compression equipment replacement and repairs.
The form for budget amendment ordinances was previously approved by the City Attorney's Office in February 2018. The attached Exhibit A summary includes a summary of each proposed amendment and associated costs.
Prior City Council Action
The FY20 budget was approved on September 24, 2019.
The first amendment to the FY20 budget was approved on December 10, 2019.
The second amendment to the FY20 budget was approved on second and final reading on January 28, 2020.
This third amendment to the FY20 budget was approved on first reading on January 28, 2020.
Projected Future City Council Action
This ordinance will be considered for second and final reading on February 11, 2020.
