Approving an Interlocal Agreement with University of Texas Aquatics to use 6 lanes at Gilleland Creek for the 2020 spring season and 8 lanes in the summer aquatic season and authorizing the City Manager to execute the same.
Summary
This agreement allows Longhorn Aquatics to use Gilleland Creek as a practice location for the Longhorn Aquatic youth swimming club for the 2020 spring and summer seasons. The contract is similar to years past and so is the fee. Only changes include removing Windermere as an option due to the pool’s aging infrastructure during the spring season and only to be used as a backup in the summer as needed for scheduling. Next year, following construction of the new guard house and restrooms, staff will recommend a fee increase that will, at a minimum, recover the full cost of providing this facility to Longhorn Aquatics. We do not anticipate any construction to impact the spring and summer seasons as we have targeted construction to be in the fall of 2020.
Prior City Council Action
The City of Pflugerville has entered into agreements with Texas Longhorn Aquatics (TXLA) since 2013. The last agreement was approved by the City Council on August 28, 2018.
