Summary
This item has been included on the agenda to allow the City Council to take action to postpone the May 2, 2020 bond election to November 3, 2020. Governor Abbott issued a proclamation on March 18, 2020 (the Election Proclamation) suspending Sections 41.0052(a) and (b) of the Texas Election Code to the extent necessary to allow political subdivisions to move their previously ordered special elections from May 2, 2020 to the next uniform election date, which occurs on November 3, 2020. Travis County and Williamson County will not be providing election services for any May 2, 2020 elections and City staff recommends to postpone the City's bond election at this time.
