Approving an ordinance on second reading with the caption reading: An Ordinance amending the Code of Ordinances of the City Pflugerville, Texas, Title VII “Traffic Code,” Chapter 70, “Traffic Rules,” to add Section 70.03, “Braking Devices Prohibited,” in order to administer and regulate traffic on City streets for the public interest, health, safety and welfare; providing for a penalty in an amount in accordance with Code of Ordinances, Section 10.99 General Penalty, for violation of any provision hereof; repealing all ordinances or parts of ordinances inconsistent or in conflict herewith; and providing for severability and an effective date.
Summary
At the June 9th City Council meeting, Staff presented proposed changes to Chapter 96 of the Code of Ordinances and Council provided feedback including several questions and concerns that have been addressed relating to the current Chapter 96. Based on that feedback and the recommendations from City Legal Counsel, Section 96.01 of the Code of Ordinances is proposed to be relocated to another section of the Code as part of this ordinance.
Chapter 96, Section 96.09 “Breaking Devices Prohibited” has been proposed to be removed from the current proposed Right-of-Way Management Ordinance and is proposed to be relocated with this Ordinance within The City of Pflugerville, Texas Code of Ordinances, Title VII “Traffic Code,” Chapter 70 “Traffic Rules, as New Section 70.03, as traffic regulation under chapter 70.

The City Council approved the ordinance on first reading on June 23, 2020.
