Approving a resolution authorizing the City Manager to apply for and to accept, if awarded, a Victim of Crime Act Formula Grant award in the amount of $62,681.46 from the Office of the Governor for the funding of personnel, purchase of equipment, and training.

Summary
This resolution authorizes the City Manager to apply for and accept, if awarded, a Victim of Crime Act Formula Grant award in the amount of $62,681.46 from the Office of the Governor for the funding of one full time victim service advocate ($56,761), VS Statistical tracking software to track victim service related statistics ($1,660) and victim service specific training to ensure that staff are current on laws and statutes (3,300), as well as approaches to victim assistance provided within the City of Pflugerville. There is a 40% funding match for this grant from the City which will be from existing salary and fringe benefits of the Victim Services Manager who will be overseeing the program ($25,072). Approval is also requested to authorize the City Manager to sign all necessary documents upon final approval of the City Attorney. Please find the attached resolution.

The current program for support services for victims of crimes relies on volunteers. This grant would assist the department with establishing dedicated staff that will focuses on victim related services for our citizens. The equipment will allow staff to be mobile and provide proactive response to citizen needs.

Prior City Council Action
The City Council approved grant applications in March 2019 and March 2020 allowing for Victim of Crime Act Formula Grant awards.
